Spiritual Rhythms to Sustain Your Life in Ministry

One of the greatest challenges facing leaders today is how to sustain themselves in ministry over the long haul.  As one ministry leader put it, "I find myself doing the work of God at such a pace that it has nearly eliminated the work of God in my own life.  I love my church and my ministry, but each day I love them a little less.  I want to get back to a place where I know I'm in the center of God's will -- doing what I am called to do, in the way I was called to do it."

In this retreat experience, we will explore spiritual rhythms that are the key to vibrancy in ministry:

  • work and rest
  • solitude and community
  • engagement and retreat
  • silence and word
  • prayer and action
  • self-knowledge and self-examination
  • discerning and doing the will of God

Led by Ruth Haley Barton, Sacred Rhythms in the Life of a Leader offers substantive teaching and guided experiences with these key spiritual disciplines of leadership.  This retreat concludes with guidance for developing a personal Rule of Life --
spiritual rhythms that will sustain you over the long haul in ministry.

Ideal for church staff teams, vestry and elder groups, boards and leadership groups in Christian organizations and academic institutions.

National Pastors Retreat

Ministry is the least important thing.
You cannot
not minister if you
are in communion with God and
live in community.
A lot of people are
always concerned about:
"How can I help people?
Or help the youth come to Christ?
Or preach well?"
But these are all basically non-issues.
If you are burning with the
love of Jesus, don't worry;
everyone will know.
They will say,
"I want to get so close to this person
who is so full of God."
