A Retreat for Pastors and Christian Leaders
The ability to discern and do the will of God personally and in community is the heart of spiritual leadership, and yet many Christian leaders have little preparation and experience with discernment as a spiritual practice. Current challenges facing churches, denominations and Christian organizations demand that we move beyond reliance on our own human thinking and strategic planning to an ability to seek and to receive the gift of spiritual wisdom, also described in Scripture as discernment. (I Corinthians 2:12-16)
This retreat will be led by Ruth Haley Barton, author and spiritual director, Rory Noland, worship leader and director
of Heart of the Artist Ministries, and others from the Transforming Center team. We will be expanding on the themes of personal and corporate discernment as found in Sacred Rhythms and Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership.
This retreat provides teaching and guided experiences that will help you:
- Understand the nature and function of spiritual leadership
- Recognize and respond to the presence of God in your personal life and in your church or organization
- Enter into the practice of discernment when facing important decisions
- Explore a step-by-step process for discerning the will of God together with your leadership team
